WaveCast Cast Resin Transformers have passed all routine and type tests conducted by third-party laboratories such as KEMA and CTQC (China). Test approvals include C4 climate class, E4 environment class, F1 flammability behavior class, 5S short-circuit breaking capacity, typical lightning impulse and temperature rise tests.

Product Features

Environmental safety. Cast resin transformers provide enhanced safety as they are free from flammable oil insulation. Therefore, they are widely used in urban power grids, commercial buildings, hospitals and universities and other applications.

High short-circuit withstand capacity. Due to the robust protection provided by vacuum cast epoxy encapsulated windings, WaveCast transformers are more robust than liquid-filled or ventilated cast resin transformers. Short-circuit tests have proven this strength beyond IEC and ANSI requirements. GEIS designs and manufactures cast windings to be among the most robust in the industry.

Resistant to adverse atmospheric conditions. Unlike ventilated cast winding transformers and similar to liquid-filled transformers, cast winding transformers are optimal for use in challenging environments. Epoxy casting is highly inert, making windings impermeable to moisture, contamination and corrosive elements.

Suitable for simple indoor installation and easy maintenance. Unlike liquid-filled transformers, indoor installations do not require automatic fire extinguishing systems or fire protection, oil monitoring or replacement, or liquid containment areas. This provides long-term maintenance benefits.

Extended ratings. GEIS cast winding transformers are available with the highest self-cooled and fan-cooled extended ratings of transformers in their size classes.
